The Vemco Biotelemetry User (VEMBU) database is a Microsoft Access database designed to handle acoustic telemetry metadata. The goals of the VEMBU are three-fold- 1) to help researchers keep track of metadata (especially researchers new to telemetry that don’t realize how much non-detection data are generated), 2) to standardize what and how we record data, and 3) to make using the node easier! Using the VEMBU is optional, many of the FACT members have picked it up because it is easy to use and decreases the work required to share data, but it is completely up to you. Please email any questions, comments or concerns to theVEMBU@theFACTNetwork.org.

The tutorials cover how to use the pre-designed queries to monitor the current and historical health and status of the equipment, determine the time and location of coverage gaps, and preparing for field work as well as generating metadata forms used in data sharing. It is recommended you watch all the videos in order to better understand the flow and general design of the VEMBU. You can reference the videos, if needed, while building your own VEMBU. |
