1. Enable Macros in Access
|
|
|
2. Open blank Access database
|
|
|
3. Select File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Macros Settings
|
|
|
4. Check the “Enable Macros” box
|
|
|
5. Click “Okay”
|
|
|
6. Open VEMBU database
|
|
|
7. Click “Okay” to close disclaimer pop up
|
|
|
8. Inspect Tabs in right window to familiarize yourself with them
|
|
|
9. Inspect Tables on the left hand side
|
|
|
10. Tables house your master data (e.g. metadata from receivers and stations)
|
|
|
11. Data is entered into the Forms (located below Tables) and not the Tables themselves
|
|
|
12. Forms have QA/QC rules built into them to reduce entry error
|
|
|
13. Inspect Reports (located below Forms) to familiarize yourself with them
|
|
|
14. Select “Customize your Variables” tab
|
|
|
15. This tab enables you to create drop down options that are unique to your needs
|
|
|
16. Under the “Array Short Code” field, enter your Array Short Codes in separate rows, which are located on your Station Metadata form sheet within the “Updating FACT Tags and Station Template” excel file
|
|
|
17. Under the “Project” field, enter a different project name for each project you are working on
|
|
|
18. This name can be anything you choose that is meaningful to you
|
|
|
19. Under the “State” field, enter the states or territories where your project arrays are located
|
|
|
20. Under the “Tagging Shortcode” field, enter the tagging shortcode for each of your projects, a six character alpha numeric code that is assigned to your tags
|
|
|
21. The Tagging Shortcode allows collaborators to view the detection data that is associated with the project on which they are collaborating and restricts them from viewing detection data that is outside their purview
|
|
|
22. Under the “Common_Name” and “Scientific_Name” fields, enter the complimentary names of the species you intend to study
|
|
|
23. Under the “Tagging_Organization” field, enter your tagging organization only (i.e. omit the organizations of your collaborators here)
|
|
|
24. Under the “Tagging PIs” field, enter the name or names of the PIs listed on your tagging studies
|
|
|
25. Under the “Taggers” field, enter the name of the person(s) who may tag the animal
|
|
|
26. Under the “Length_Other_Types” field, type in any length types that you use outside of the default standard length, fork length, and total length (e.g. Claper In, Clasper Out, Disc Width)
|
|
|
27. Under the “Sample_Type” field, type in any tissue sample you may take outside of the default DNA and isotope
|
|
|
28. Try to utilize the default selections under the “Attachment_Methods,” “Bottom_Type,” “Waterbody_Type,” and “Habitat_Type” field so that all FACT members are using the same verbiage
|
|
|
29. However, if you use something very different, please enter your own description in a cell below the default choices
|
|
|
30. Under the “Sensor_Type” field, enter the sensor types that you use that are outside of the default temperature, salinity, DO, and conductivity
|
|
|
31. Under the “Receiver_Type” field, the default selections are based on the receivers that are currently manufactured by Vemco
|
|
|
32. Once you have finished customizing your variables, click Save
|
|
|
33. You are now ready to use your customized VEMBU |
